Based in the Enterprise Centre at the University of Hull, the company is the official supplier of club-branded sunglasses and spectacle frames for most of the top clubs in the country, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal – and Hull City. Now, Fan Frames is preparing to unveil its products to a captive audience as JJB Sports is about to trial a range of sunglasses in about 50 of its stores. The frames carry subtle branding in the form of the clubs' crest and colours, and the initial trial could result in a much larger order for next summer.
Paul, who is joined in the business by his brother and business manager Keith and technical director Chris Birkett, said: "This trial is a fantastic result for Fan Frames. If we can sign a deal for next summer it will be like winning the cup."JJB Sports is the first major multiple retailer to stock the frames, however the company is also in serious talks with other major retailers and optical chains."This is the biggest company we have sold to so far," said Paul."Our target was to get a multiple retailer on board this year."The goal is to increase the volume and roll it out nationally. JJB have about 450 stores so if we could get our Manchester United and Liverpool sunglasses into all those it would be a massive deal for next summer."
